A native of Chicago with Cuban, Argentinean, and Spanish heritage, Vanesa Roimicher is a flamenco dancer and percussionist.
She began taking classes with the Ensemble Español when she was 18. She holds a degree in dance from Northeastern Illinois University. In 2006 she joined renowned Spanish dancer, Ms. Azucena Vega's Soul and Duende Spanish American Dance Theatre company with which she studied and performed for 5 years. With them she performed in many different venues across the Chicago land area, Indiana, and New York. Venues such as: Northeastern Illinois University, College of Lake County, Purdue University, Interamerican Magnet School, Instituto Cervantes in Chicago, just to name a few.
Vanesa has also studied with other renowned Spanish dancers such as Carmela Greco, Juan Mata, Ana Gonzalez, and Vida Peral, just to name a few.
As a natural progression for a flamenco dancer, she fell in love with the flamenco cajon, thus embarking in what has became one of her main passions. Besides the cajon, she also loves percussin and has developed and continues studying and adding other percussion instruments on her percussive repertoire such as the bongo, doumbek, or udu drum, amongst others.
She studied cajon flamenco in Spain with reknown percussionst Miguel Reyes Jimenez. She has also studied with famous percussionist Javier Saume, Jose Moreno, Kassandra Kocoshis, Braulio Salcedo, and Alan Alvarez.
Currently she performs all around the Chicago land area collaborating with different local flamenco groups.
